OECD’s survey of skills underway

Surveying is underway in Aotearoa New Zealand on literacy, numeracy and problem-solving skills and their use in everyday life and work.

The field interviewing is taking place as part of Cycle 2 of the OECD’s Survey of Adult Skills. The Ministry of Education has contracted Auckland-based research company CBG to interview a representative sample of New Zealanders aged 16-75. CBG is contacting households across the country until about the end of June for a field trial ahead of the main survey in 2022/23. The field trial will confirm that processes and procedures are fit-for-purpose.

The Ministry of Education encourages those selected to participate given the value of the resulting information for understanding New Zealanders’ skills. Your individual information is confidential and fully protected.

The local name for the survey is the ‘New Zealand Study of Adult Skills’, and it is part of the OECD’s Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC).
