<h2>NZEI Te Riu Roa has welcomed the roll-out of Te Ahu o te Reo Māori, a $12.2 million pilot programme to assist teachers and support staff use te reo Māori.</h2>
<p>NZEI Te Riu Roa President Lynda Stuart said NZEI was committed to universal access to te reo for all New Zealand chidlren, and the programme was a significant stepping stone to educators being able to make that goal become a reality.</p>
<p>Matua takawaenga Laures Park said improving levels of te reo in the existing education workforce was a strategy long advocated by NZEI Te Riu Roa.</p>
