Looking after waterways workshop for South AK children

<h3>By the time they reach primary school&comma; most children understand the importance of water&period; However&comma; few know how they can help preserve our precious waterways&period;<&sol;h3>&NewLine;<p>As part of learning about the importance of water&comma; children from south Auckland will soon be taking part in an educational initiative&comma; Water for Life – Cool&comma; Clear&comma; Clean&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Children will learn how their actions help or harm streams&comma; harbours and sea&comma; responsible disposal of litter&comma; the impact of urban pollution on our waterways and the importance of trees for shading of creatures who live in waterways&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The programme&comma; facilitated by the Manukau Beautification Trust&comma; will cater to 1500 students on 5th-7th April and will include water games&comma; activities and arts and craft&period; The event culminates in a free Family Day at the Auckland Botanic Gardens on Saturday&comma; 9th April to which organisers expect more than 8&comma;000 visitors&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>All primary schools in the Auckland Southern region have been invited to the Water for Life programme&comma; and the Family Day is open to the wider community&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The trust is also running a series of school competitions including wearable arts &lpar;primary through to high school&rpar;&comma; cookery and creative art&period; All competitions have high value cash prizes for winners&comma; and will showcase their work at the Family Day&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>For more information&comma; go to <a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;beautifulmanukau&period;org&period;nz&sol;" target&equals;"&lowbar;blank">www&period;beautifulmanukau&period;org&period;nz<&sol;a><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
