Thousands raised for Barnados families from Round the Bays run

&NewLine;<p><img class&equals;" alignright size-full wp-image-1345" src&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;schoolnewsnz&period;fastrackdev&period;com&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2015&sol;03&sol;SND13-WK3-Barnardos&lowbar;ROB&lowbar;team&lowbar;300x225&period;jpg" alt&equals;"SND13-WK3-Barnardos ROB team 300x225" style&equals;"margin&colon; 5px&semi; float&colon; right&semi;" width&equals;"300" height&equals;"225" &sol;>Children and families supported by Barnardos were the winners on the day of the Ports of Auckland Round the Bays run this year&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> <&excl;--more--> <&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Barnardos general manager child and family services&comma; Mike Munnelly&comma; says Barnardos was delighted by the level of support received for those taking part in the event&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&&num;8220&semi;More than 32 of our staff and supporters joined the 30&comma;000 plus crowd of people who ran&comma; walked or wheeled over the 8&period;4km course&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&&num;8220&semi;Donations are still coming in but so far our runners have raised close to &dollar;12&comma;000&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&&num;8220&semi;Alongside that&comma; staff from Milford Asset Management also ran for us&period; They have raised &dollar;5&comma;700 and Milford Asset Management have very generously said they will match that dollar for dollar&period;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Milford are a leading sponsor of the Barnardos&&num;8217&semi; children&&num;8217&semi;s helpline&comma; 0800 What&&num;8217&semi;s Up&comma; and the Round the Bays event provided them with the perfect opportunity to further show their support for vulnerable New Zealand children&comma; managing director&comma; Milford Asset Management&comma; Anthony Quirk says&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&&num;8220&semi;The Round the Bays race was a great day for us and a fantastic way to showcase our support for 0800 What&&num;8217&semi;s Up&period; We are pleased with the times we ran but far more proud of the support we are able to provide such a worthy cause&period; The excellent amount of money raised by our staff will be matched by a corporate donation from Milford&period;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>In addition to the funds raised by individual runners&comma; Barnardos was also one of the event&&num;8217&semi;s five official charities&comma; and so will receive a further &dollar;20&comma;000&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&&num;8220&semi;That means in total Barnardos&&num;8217&semi; vital services will receive more than &dollar;40&comma;000 from the event&period; This is a wonderful gift that will directly benefit our most vulnerable children&comma;&&num;8221&semi; Mr Munnelly says&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&&num;8220&semi;We&&num;8217&semi;re very grateful to all those who took part and we look forward to an even bigger and better event in 2016&period;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
